Casanova Prosecco showcase
PROSECCO lovers might have heard the recent news that their favourite sparkling tipple last year outsold champagne for the first time, with a market reportedly worth around £340m, compared with only £250m for champagne.
What better time then for one high-end brand to hold a showcase for its wares, at one of the best restaurants in London’s Chinatown earlier this week.
Casanova Prosecco prides itself as an exclusive, premium quality sparkling wine, which has already gained a reputation amongst the more discerning palates of the world’s luxury beverage market, including at the Ritz Club where it is the prosecco brand of choice. Its winery, established in the mid twentieth century, is one of the largest in the Veneto wine-growing region of Valdobbiadene, the birthplace of Prosecco Superiore.
At the showcase its leading brands, including a Rosé Cuvée Prestige and 2014 Brut Millesimato, were interestingly paired with the Cantonese cuisine of Chinatown’s Dumplings’ Legend, which last week hosted the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall during London’s annual Chinese New Year celebrations. You wouldn’t have thought it but the smooth proseccos and savoury dumplings complemented each other perfectly.
In attendance at the event were Casanova owner Carlo Parodi; restaurant boss Geoffrey Leong; hospitality manager at Piccadilly’s DSTRKT club Salvatore Cala-Lesina; and a representative of Casanova’s UK supplier, Astir.
Also attending was a representative of Finsbury’s Park Theatre, whose recent annual fundraising gala was hosted by supporter Ian McKellen and sponsored by Casanova, who donated an exclusive bottle encrusted with Swarovski crystals for auction on the night.
