Review: Dolphin Tale 2
Dolphin Tale 2 exudes the same home-spun storytelling and charm as its predecessor which begs the question why this feel good family movie wasn’t slated for a Xmas release? I’m not sure Warner Bros. see it as their ace card for December/January, rather a steady 3-4 star performer.
The story itself carries on from the hero dolphin, Winter and her miracle rescue and rehabilitation. With her unique prosthetic tail Winter choreographs through numerous swim scenes until the central drama unfolds – both she and the rescue team are confronted with the task of settling in a new partner with failure offering extreme consequences. All this is played out to a backdrop of a mildly simmering and amusing first love crush, in which the boy, (of course) remains largely oblivious to.
The film reunites the original players, Harry Connick, Jr., Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Austin Stowell and the lead, Winter as herself, which begs another question, can dolphins get Oscar nominations?
Dolphin Tale 2.
